Here's a question I can't seem to find an answer for.

If I install XP on a board with an E6600 will I have to reinstall XP if I upgrade to a Q6700?

Everything would be the same except for the CPU. I know there's no issue going from an E6300 to a E6600 (already did that). Just wondering if I can go to a Quad without a reinstall.

Any help would be appreciated.

I went from e6600 to e6850 but theyre dual cores.. I'd just drop the quad in there and see what happens, everything might be OK mate..

I havent tried it but I think it would be fine.....just make sure windows see all 4 cores.

You'll be fine without re-installing, Rick. During the summer FWs I used the same XP install for several different quads and duals.
