I understand there are new series coming out soon for both makers ATI and NV the 4 and 99 series respectively. I've been looking around today and the 8800GTX is selling for over 350 while the 9800GTX is selling for 300 even. What's the deal with that. the 9800 is from what i've seen all of 7% better than the 88 and then the G92 GTS is playing around in that ballpark to. maybe it's just me but it looks like NV is selling the same card 3 times at 3 different pricepoints.

I was planning on a new build...but i bought a 360 and my room mate skipped town with it...so it's lookin a lot like all my plans are on hold till I figure out WTF happened there. the computer gods have foiled me again. Anyway, what do you guys think about a new video card. Trying for the $300 pricepoint although less is more.

wait a couple of weeks till the new nvidia 200 series, or until the 4870x2 comes out and there will be a big price drop...

lol I almost thought to say, "paulzig i know you'll tell me to wait" in the original post. The thing with waiting is that the 9800GTX didn't do a thing to drop prices on the 8800GTX, what are the benches on the 4870x2 looking like? How much better is it going to be over the 3870x2? Will it be worth it with my FX55?
