Well guys, I'm finally ready to upgrade my aging socket 939 rig to Intel C2Q. I have the following parts picked out and I just want to make sure that I've made good selections:
Intel Q6600
Asus P5KC
Corsair TWIN2X4096-6400C5 (2x2GB kit)
I've read that the P5KC is the same as the P5K, but adds support for DDR3. Am I giving up any overcocking headroom by going with this board? Also, do the P5K-E or P5K Deluxe boards offer any better overclockability, or do they just add extra features?
I believe that memory you selected (although very nice) is DDR2, which won't work with that board. From my understanding a motherboard that supports DDR3 support DDR3 only.

It will let you use DDR2 or DDR3, but not both at the same time.
wow, yup, i stand corrected, sorry about that
interesting my only qualm is that when you move to DDR3 you are going to feel like you could be doing more and will want to upgrade to a new MOBO again. The technical aspects though are pretty balanced. you probably wouldn't want to use more than 2 sticks of ram at a time do to the auto 2T timing. So in the end it's a fair trade. kinda short on sata ports I think there's only two and the others are for raid. plenty of PCI and PCI-e. good board if you are ok with the "wasted" slots.
