I have a Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard. I was wondering what is the highest/fas-*test*-('") CPU I can put on it?

Seeing how that is a 939 skt mobo, your fas-*test*-('") cpu would be the FX-60. You can probably find those and other 939 cpus on ebay.

Might think about upgrading your mobo/cpu/memory as you would end up with a lot better of a performance increase for just a little more that what the FX60 alone will cost you.

What do you currently have in there now?

Keep in mind that the most budget Intel chips like the e6550 and the new e8200 are leaps ahead of the FX-60, but go this way and you'll need a new motherboard, RAM etc biggrin.gif

I have a 3500+ venice overclocked to 2.53g. and 2g of ram (just bought 1 more gig). Im a gamer but I dont have to have the best because im kinda broke. You happen to know a good combo for cheap? worth the upgrade?

If someone wanted me to upgrade their older computer for cheap, I'd go this route.

$89

$28 AR
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820145590
$99

$65 AR
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814150229

Total being $283, for a new cpu/mobo/2gb mem/vid card. This would be leaps and bounds faster than what you have now.

If you wanted to go with Intel, then probably addd around $150 more, which would be faster than the AMD setup. Again, that AMD setup would be your cheapest upgrade while giving you a very noticable performance incrase.

If you have a decent videocard, then you can subtract $65 from both totals.

Hope this helps.

I've purchased a lot of stuff here http://www.hardforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=17

You can probably find a nice 939 for cheap on the used market.
