Help,
I recently had to reinstall windows because of Nvidia's la-*test*-('") video drivers caused my system to fail mad.gif after 2 years of no issues. Upon rebuild of my system I updated my mobo drivers and when I put on the SIL3114 SATA Raid driver my system started crashing to Blue Screen with driver errors. I never set my drives up in RAID configs, I dont want it, its just trouble. When I went to control panel to remove the SIL3114 raid driver it had 2 identical references for SATA controllers it said nothing about RAID, so I crossed my fingers and uninstalled the 2nd controller. It worked, my system is now stable for many months but I keep getting the Windows XP notice that there is no Sata controller because I uninstalled the SIL3114 controller, the other SATA controller works fine. Is there an alternative to the SIL3114 raid controller or some way I can just turn OFF the Raid ports all together?

HELP,
Best Regards,

It does not appear that you are using the Sil ports. Just disable them in BIOS and your problem should go away.
