Nice preview of the very soon reality of quad xfire.

Here is a thought: one 3870 X2 ($450) card along with one 3870 card ($180), instead of two 3870 X2s ($900)

Yummy,

From the looks of the performance charts going from 2 to 3 gpu's is the best bang for your buck, but I wonder if as the drivers mature for the X2 if that may help the performance jump from 3 to 4 gpu's.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement is it? It looks like an awful lot is hinging on the Crossfire quad support drivers.

March will definetly be a big month for vid cards. The new ATI drivers will be out for quad xfire, which is very exciting. Also, we will see Nvida's 9800GX2, and possible the 9800GTX.
