If I understand correctly, must update bios on this board to support Quad core? How can I do this if the CPU isn't supported (I don't have cpu to use temporarily)?
Regards,
I believe the board should recognize the chip as something other than a Quad Core (Underclocked) and at least post. Then I'll flash. I post if this works. Other ideas still appreciated.
Regards
You really won't know until you try it. The board may have shipped with a new enough BIOS to support the 6600.
If not, there is one other option. If you have a friend with an identical board and a supported dual core, you can put your BIOS chip in his machine, flash it, and then return it to yours. That's a little bit less work than swapping CPUs for the flash, but, it depends on you knowing someone with the right rig.
Thanks Arlie, board shipped with updated bios, good to go.
