The immediate financial future is looking bleak for our friend, AMD. These new processors had better be the second coming of C2D, or we may be in for an "all Intel, all the time" world. ohmy.gif

A $10 billion loss in shareholder wealth is a significant hit:

The new chip will fix everything..... I hope

well this intel rig i'm building has to last me a long time, but i just really like AMD.

too bad the AM2 isn't better, seems all the mobo makers are concentrating and have better support for the current intel chips.

that's what's selling, so can't blame them in a way... greedy bastards! wink.gif

I'm with flyfisherman. My only question is how far to let it fall before I back up the truck and load her up. If it falls as far as $10, I'll have to buy just on principle alone, as that is the point where price = book value. I don't think it will fall that far, however, I'm looking for a bottom in the $12/share range.

I certainly don't see them 'going quietly into the night.' I'm a fan too, so will probably throw my hat/dollars into the ring with the rest of you and buy up some of that stock!

Well a year ago AMD was at $36. I can't imagine the purchase of ATI not helping them out, now and in the future. If Barcelona performs as they predict, 40% faster than intel's cpu, then that would get the stocks headed in the right direction.

I can see the stocks going down a little bit more, but after the release of their new GPU card, it should start to rise.

I will be more than happy to go the AMD quad route later this year if the performance is there.

I think it will. My Core 2 is a great chip but I really want to come back home. If Agena matches Core 2 I am switching.
