My first one hits 2.7-2.8 easy on good aircooling.
(XP90c with 92mm Sunon)
Got it up to 2.9 with the Monsoon II TEC cooler in my sig.

The second I will be -*test*-('")ing this weekend.

And I know what you mean about them proving your PSU for you.
Proved my BFG 650 a pos as well....

Pc Power and Cooling Silencer 750 is a whole world better.
12v/12.10 - 5v/4.99 - 3.3v/3.36 unwavering under full load with Orthos.

I am officially converted to a PC P&C Fanboy!!!!!!! wink.gif

Welcome to the cult Wanna. biggrin.gif It is fun to hook up a meter and throw everything you have at a PSU and watch the 12v drop from 12.11 to 12.10 and never flicker after that. It is worth the extra $50 IMHO. Of course you'll never be satisfied with anything less from now on so....wink.gif

What is the full stepping on your chip?

WannaGoFast- 11-29-2006
oops ya.....I think I misunderstood his post. I thought he meant he got a CCBBE.
Upon rereading it I see now he may have meant he got a CCBWE....we'll see.

Arlie- 11-29-2006
CCBBE 0616X just arrived here from Newegg. It's headed for Brazil so Crisao23 can give it a good thrashing.

Merc- 11-29-2006
That is a good one Arlie. You will, most likely, be very happy with that chip Cris.

WannaGoFast- 11-30-2006
Nice AJ.....I'm pretty sure he will be pleased with it.

I have some free time today...
I should be able to install my newest one to -*test*-('") a little later.
So I should have some early results sometime this after noon.
The one thats in here now will only do 2.9GHz no matter what.
And thats with a ton of voltage. I'm hoping for a little better from this one. wink.gif

Crisao23- 11-30-2006
I'm running here a 4400+ that needs 1.5v to reach 2500 Mhz. And it's all that I could reach with it.

I'll definitely be pleased with the opteron.

Thanks a lot Arlie. Results will be here as soon as possible.

Never wrote down the whole number, just remember from installing. Getting my new seasonic S12 tommorow (yeah yeah I wanted a PC P&C but ultimately wanted my $80 more tongue.gif ) going to tear everthing down then. Found the posts that detail what various steppings have been able to do so far and will just go from there.

After doing *alot* of reading I think RAM is going to be my hang up. Its good stuff (see sig) but 4 sticks doesnt seem like its going work well. In my old prescott rig I ran it at 260Mhz at 2.7v for 2+years. Seems to get unstable past 225 with the AMD chip. Of course all this could be unstable PSU problems, so far only been able to run with a Antec or a 20pin plugged into a 24pin dry.gif curiously enough though it passed 20 hours of orthos running at 275x9, 4xHTT, 333hz RAM divider 2/3/3/5 2T running on a 420W $30 raidmax PSU.

Thinking about buying a couple of Team 512Mb PC4800 sticks from Tankguys. $120-130 for a gig of ridiculously fast RAM seems like a pretty good deal.

All in all though have to say I'm pretty impressed with the Opty 165, not to shabby for a proc that cost $159

Edit: to be clear the chip I got the stepping started with CCBWE

I'm checking results with the 165 and same week/stepping as the one Arlie described.

There's a lot of incredible results with my mobo and this cpu:

My god...

Crisao23....I know almost for a fact this chip will do well for you bud.
Merc has one with the same stepping and I have 2..all the same as yours.
In fact this entire thread is about our experiences in overclocking the very same stepping CPU.
Merc is currently running his at over 3Ghz. The one I was -*test*-('")ing did 2.8 easy and 2.9 with a lot of volts.
I am currently -*test*-('")ing the 2nd one right now. Booted it up first time at 2.7 300x9 at stock volts.
It has been running Orthos for almost an hour at those sets and I am gooing to increase to 2.8 in a little bit.

I have no doubt in my mind you will achieve between 2.8-3.0GHz with great ease. cool.gif

WannaGoFast- 11-30-2006
Currently running Orthos at 2.8GHz @1.35v core temps around 45c.
I notice that this CPU the core temps are almost identicle at all times.
The first one core2 was always much hotter then core 1 under a load.
It also seems like I had to add voltage to the first one to get it to run this speed.
Damn my crappy memory and lack of taking notes when I do these -*test*-('")s.. dry.gif

Merc- 11-30-2006
That's looking real good Wanna. For comparison, mine ran at 2853MHz for 1h 15m (stopped manually to keep moving) at 1.36v 43c 76.3f ambient. (1.1625Vcore/1.38v at idle/ 1.36v Loaded). Looks like you're on the same trajectory, maybe better. That's a keeper mate. biggrin.gif

WannaGoFast- 11-30-2006
Ya this one is looking much better so far....at 2.9 now..still at 1.36v.
Core temps still around 45c.Havent even enabled the overvolt yet.
Been running 5MHz increases...-*test*-('")ing for 30 minutes in between.

Crisao23- 11-30-2006
Nice temperatures there. Air cooling at 2.9 ?

Thinking about 3GHz under air cooling. Is it possible ?
