I'm using the driver from here http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/Techni...1_13118,00.html
1.3.1.0 .  I didn't reinstall it but device manager shows it as working on both cores.   blink.gif

sorry to jump onto this thread, i cant seem to find 1.3.1.0 on that link nor the opteron's drivers/utility page.

would the "AMD Opteron™ Processor with AMD PowerNow!™ Technology Driver for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Version (x86 and x64 exe) 1.3.2.16 " work as well?
"AMD Dual-Core Optimizer" is needed?

Here you go:
http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/Techni...1_13118,00.html

You want the AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor Driver for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Version (x86 and x64 exe) 1.3.2.16
and the AMD Dual-Core Optimizer

this thread is like the opty165 3.0 club ^^

thanks merc, will reformat and install those. hope i can get coretemp n speedfan to work correctly after. my fan is so loud, its quite annoying. sad.gif

i have a question about stock voltage.. is it 1.275 or 1.2875 or 1.3?
so far i can do 282x10@1.2875 and gamed a little, if i want to stay on stock voltage, will i still be able to get it higher by tweaking the ram settings? if so, around how much higher?

Merc- 12-22-2006
Right now you are below stock voltage. I believe the 170 stcok Vcore is 1.30v. Possibly 1.35v. Why do you want to limit the Vcore to stock? As long as your temps are good you can exceed stock Vcore up to around 1.5 or so without much worry. After 1.5v things start to get a little more intense. 1.6v is usually considered the absolute max for a 90nm 939 CPU. See where you can go with Vcore set at 1.4v.

man this 165 is nuts. i'm at 275x9 = 2475 mhz @1.3v and 40 degrees under orthos. that's 675 mhz so far. couldn't get 675 mhz out of my 4800x2 no matter what voltage i ran. right now i bump it a little run orthos for 1/2 hr and shut it down for a couple of hrs. want to cycle the as5 in good before i really push it. the way this is going so far i think i'm gonna be real happy with this chip.

WannaGoFast- 12-22-2006
What stepping didya get flyfisherman?
These thing are definately best bang for the buck for sure wink.gif

flyfisherman- 12-22-2006
wanna, the stepping on this is CCBBE 0615 DPMW. i can't believe how far this thing wants to go with no voltage increase. simply amazing. i'd also like to thank you for that link to the team memory. didn't even know you could buy ddr 600. comp giants are only 4 hours away from me. ordered it on friday and got it monday with ground shipping. currently running 2.5-3-3-6 at 1t. once i find the limit on the chip i'll see what i can get out of the memory. this will probably be my last upgrade untill AMD comes out with the quads. but with this damn tech addiction we'll see

WannaGoFast- 12-22-2006
Most all the CCBBE's seem to do well.
With your cooling, and that ram, you will be running the same sets as me in no time.
If you got the same 1gb set of DDR 600 Team ram I have it should run up to
300MHz 2.5-4-4-8 1t with everything else set to auto in ram sets with ease.
I topped out at 316MHz - 3168MHz CPU with near those same settings in the 1M SuperPi runs.
Still not sure if it was the ram, cpu, or motherboard that gave out then wink.gif

1.3v is good to about 2.6 - 2.7Ghz.....bet ya
And the 183 divider is your friend....300MHz at 334HTT cool.gif

I sent one outta here on an A8N-E the other night running 2.6GHz 1.3v stable as a rock for a customer.

Enjoy the new toy.

My great dilemma for the evening is I have 2 brand new 36.7GB 16MB cache Raptors sitting here in a box.
They are to replace my ancient 8MB cache drives because 1 is making a funny noise when I start up the PC.
And I just figured out.....
I have to pull the motherboard to get the drive cage out because of the SpaceHeater I have for a CPU cooler LOL

Quickly became a project for tommorow biggrin.gif

Hey wanna, do you have any upgraded coling for your NB?

Arlie- 12-22-2006
WGF:

Once you've tried the 16MB cache version of those drives, you're going to be hooked. Those suckers scream. I'm struggling for the spring build season between four of those and going SCSI.

Nope.....I removed the heat pipe and reinstalled it with AS5, other then that it's stock.
I do have an 80mm fan blowing right on the lower block under the vid card.

Ya I'm sure I will be happy with em Arlie.....the old ones have served me well for about 3yrs.

Merc- 12-23-2006
lsutiger-
I have watercooling on both the NB and SB. I have one of those upside down Lian Lis and thought it best to remove the heatpipe which is designed to run upside down.

WOW AJ.....you werent kidding......these new Raptors are much faster then the rev1 version!!
If I woulda known they were this much better I woulda got em sooner for sure.

Dayum! I just looked them up...I kow I spent more on the originals, but at a minimum I would be spending $210 for a setup...are they worth it?
I have the original Raptor in RAID 0 right now

Arlie- 12-23-2006
I have the older models in my rig and the newer ones in Betsey's and Patrick's rigs. Two of the newer ones produce hard drive scores that are at about 75% of what I get with four of the older ones. Yeah, they're blazing fast. I just can't justify yanking four of them out to replace them in my rig, or I would in a heartbeat.

As I said elsewhere, I'm thinking ahead to the next build here and wondering whether it should be four of the new Raptors or four SCSI drives. I wish we could get some numbers on SCSI drives in here for comparison.
