Given the price on the 165s, $155, it is an inexpensive, fun little chip to overclock and works like a champ. I run mine at 3006MHz, 1.47v, for regular operations and bench at 3105MHz for the most part.

just got my 165 from newegg today. the stepping on this is CCBBE 0615DPMW. a little different than what you guys got. hope this one clocks somewhere near what you guys have been getting. but if not it's still a fairly cheap chip.

Fly-
That is a really good chip. It should do 3.0 easily, especially on water. Congrats on a nice chip. biggrin.gif

Arlie, if you are going to jump in you better do it before the CCBBE series are gone. They are slipping CCBWE series in there every now and again and they won't do 2.8.

thanks for the info merc. i can't do anything tomorrow cause i have a doctors appointment at the VA. those usually take up most of the day. but on the way home i'll swing by home depot and pick up some flex tubing. run it from the window to the radiator intake to see if i can really cool this baby down. it's 6:30 here and my outside temp is 9 degrees F. the high at my house was 36 today. might as well take advantage of mother nature.

9f! Oy ohmy.gif I was born and raised in Buffalo NY so I remember cold like that. Remeber being the operative word. VA is cold enough for me now. biggrin.gif

Just remember you want to cycle that Thermal Paste through some hot to room temp transitions to get it cured. Also, be aware of condensation forming inside the case if the outside air is moist. Pumping moist, cold air into a hot, dry, enclosed space can lead to some interesting electrical activity. biggrin.gif

If you run the flex tubing so it dumps over the radiator I bet you'd get some awesome results without effecting the moisture level in the case at all. I can get that effect just by opening my window, behind the case, as the cold air drops to the floor and right over my radiator. Course the whole room eventually gets freezing as well. Your wife looks at you strangely when you put a jacket on to go into the computer room. biggrin.gif

LOL....I've been dealing with that for years biggrin.gif

got up this morn and at 7:30 it was 4 degrees. before i went to nam i spent 8 mos at ft monmouth n.j. so i know about those east coast winters. out here in the west we like to say it's a dry heat or cold but 4 degrees is cold anywhere. my radiator is mounted on top sort of like a koolance unit so the cold air will not be going into the case at all. it sits right next to the window, but it gets too cold in here to leave it open. this arthritis sucks and i don't want to feed the power company any more than i have to. i figure with the flex tubing and block the rest of the window with a piece of plywood i won't have to wear a snowsuit and gloves to play with my comp. well gotta go to the VA now. check in later

That will work great fly. I got mine to 20c once doing the open window thing but your temps and setup should d much better. 38c after 1 hour on Orthos with the room down at 58f.

A little update on the overclocking. I am stable running blend -*test*-('") @2907 323x9 @ stock volts. I ran the -*test*-('") for 6 hours without errors. My temps maxed out at 51c, I think the temps will go down a little after the arctic silver 5 "burns in". I am not going to push it any harder until i get the water setup installed. Hopefully I can get better clocks with more volts. dry.gif

Wow, 2907 at stock is incredible. That chip is definitely deserving of water. I think it may be a superstar 165. 1.35v Vcore right Bei Fei?

Bei Fei- 12-19-2006
vCore is at 1.36.

I can't wait to get water laugh.gif

Merc- 12-19-2006
I'd have to look at my numbers but I am pretty sure I was at 1.4v+ to get 2907. I'll check when I get home but you. Maybe Wanna will check his records before I do and let you know (we have pretty much identical chips) but you are way ahead of the power curve mate. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

2900MHz for me was at 1.36v, had to jump to 1.4v for 2950MHz, and 1.475v to get 3006MHz 100% Orthos stable.

Merc- 12-19-2006
323x9=2910MHz at 1.38v 12h Orthos stable for me. Skipped 2950 and went right to 3006MHz @ 1.47v which is Orthos stable for 21+h (stopped manually)

Bei Fei- 12-20-2006
I booted to 3006 334x9@1.45v. It was HOT (around 44c idle) so I couldnt do much -*test*-('")ing. I did run A 1m ∏ @ 30.142 my personal best. I hope my water block arrives before Xmas so I can do some serious -*test*-('")ing.
