From a 2006 build that has worked perfectly ever since until today...
I lit up the Asus P5N Mobo, (green board led came on and fans spin) w 2 gb ram, Intel 3.7 Pentium, a Radeon 1600 Video board, WD 200 in dual boot (XP and Vista) mode and WD 320 HD time and time again. It worked just fine.
Most recently I did a Vista update and shut it down for a few days. Went back to light it up and no video output from the card or board. No hard drives spinning (can't hear it cycle) although the HD front panel LED light come on. It just stalls.
It goes through the cycle of looking at the DVD drives for startups but nothing when it arrives at the HDD. And still nothing on the screen but a "NO VIDEO OUTPUT". I even tried a different monitor so I know it is the DOS Box.
I've pulled all the video and expansion cards out and connected to the boards video output and still no video. Fans come on so I guess it is POSTing....
What the heck can this be? As always, you help is greatly appreciated!
Another quick question while I have you....
Since VISTA is the priority boot for the dual boot system, must I hit F8 again to boot into the safe mode as in XP?
Please have a Great Day!
Ron
Hey Ron,
So it hasn't fired up since the Vista update? Do you have another video card you could try?
Mark
I'll be doing just that. I'm off now for the 9 AM opening of Fry's. They have a couple of cards on sale today.
I shall report back.
Thanks for your quick response. Ron
i didnt say buy, i said try

Also.. if the BIOS is set to boot off an addon card, i dont believe it will boot off the onboard video unless you set the BIOS to boot with the onboard video chipset.
