Hey Evveryone,

My computer keeps rebooting, whenever it chooses...

Here 's what I got:

-INTEL QX9650
-ASUS P5N32E SLI PLUS
-4Go RAM (4X1) DDR2 800MHz CORSAIR XMS2
-NVIDIA 8800GTS 512 (1pcs)

I upgraded the Bios to 1002

Would appreciate any help.

What brand and wattage power supply do you have? Is this a recent problem or has it been happening since the PC was first put together...

Welcome to Asus Independent by the way..biggrin.gif

Thanks biggrin.gif

The power supply brand is EPSILON and it's 800W. When I built it (2 weeks ago), it kept rebooting all the time, so I upgraded the BIOS and it stopped constantly rebooting, I installed XP SP2 and it now it reboots and I get a blue screen for no apparent reason

Hi Hish,

Usually this indicates a PSU issue, as Paulzig hints. An 800W PSU should give you plenty of juice for that rig, but the PSU could be faulty. Before swapping out PSU's, I would urge you to -*test*-('") the RAM. Using MemTest, remove all the RAM except for one stick nearest the CPU and boot to MemTest from CD. Run MemTest for one hour and see if it reports errors. If you receive no errors, repeat this procedure with 2 GB of RAM. Then swap out the two DIMM's not -*test*-('")ed for the RAM that has passed the -*test*-('") and -*test*-('") it.

Please go to your user control panel and prepare a signature containing your system configuration. See Paul and my signatures for examples.

Thanks for your reply

I already tried mem-*test*-('")86 no errors I guess I ll have to change the power supply, maybe get a smaller one is 600W enough?

Hey hish,

If you want a rock solid PSU at a great price (even before the mir) look here.

I still got a Fortron Epsilon here running in my AMD rig and its been pretty solid for me so far... Sometimes mem-*test*-('") can take hours to throw up an error so keep that in mind, I'd hate for you to go and buy a new PSU when the problem lies elsewhere..

The blue screen, is it "machine check exception" or "IRQ not less than or equal"??

I'd try taking out 2 sticks of RAM and see how it runs with 2 gig... May have to look at the voltage of the RAM too...

hish- 05-11-2008
I don't know what happened, bios got erased.... I am not getting anything on the screen... What can I do now?

paulzig- 05-12-2008
BIOS doesnt erase itself, if there is a problem with it it will usually throw up a CHECKSUM error... Try running 1 single stick of RAM in the 1st slot to see if it comes back online.. Did you change anything in the BIOS before this happened??

hish- 05-12-2008
I had a boot with checksum error and it was downloading the basic bios from motherboard cd. It rebooted ad started same procedure. I decided to take out the cd and put the new bios cd in. The system froze... And now the screen is off all the time.

paulzig- 05-12-2008
Power off, turn off the PSU and do a CMOS clear... your manual should outline the location of the jumper and procedure.. Then try putting in the Motherboard CD again...It may suck the old BIOS off it if youre lucky..

hish- 05-12-2008
Cleared CMOS, but i didn't get any new response

paulzig- 05-13-2008
Try taking out the CMOS battery and leave it out for about half an hour or so...

hish- 05-13-2008
Ok I m on it
