Hey guys, I just picked up an E6750, P5N32E-SLI and 2 gigs of OCZ SLI-Ready Edition Dual Channel 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz.

Did I make a good choice?

And will my 600 watt PS by sufficent? I hope so..

Thanks

Hi dubc613 -

Are you running one or two graphics cards - and which card(s) are you running?

WannaGoFast- 10-26-2007
Looks like good solid hardware choices to me....should run good.
As far as the power supply goes...all you can do is try it and see.

Thats going to be a great setup, and a very nice upgrade from what your used to.

Enjoy!

the two cards are 7600 gt's. I'm running them both right now of my 600watt with no problems. Is it true the the 6750 drains less power then the opty 175 I got? casue if it does I shouldn;t have a problem with my PS I believe.

The E6750 is 65w - which should be a little less than the opti. You should be fine running your 7600s with the E6750 in your new system with the 600w psu.

Tonight the build begins. I stupidely ordered an OEM version of the CPU, so it didn;t come with paste, so I had to postpone the build one day. Do you guys think the stock bios version of my new P5N32e-plus will take the e6750? I know you need a certain bios version that supports 1333mhz FSB. I just picked up some AS5 from the local comp store, I just hope my CPU is supported..

The fun awaits ... .

I am assuming you have the P5N32-E SLI Plus. Is this correct?

Usually the boards don't ship with the la-*test*-('") BIOS, but it won't hurt to try to boot up with what comes with the board since the 501 BIOS - out since 2/15/07 have supported the 1333 MHz cpus. You should update to the newer BIOS though. The la-*test*-('") BIOS, 805, released in August has better oc capabilities. Others might have more to add.

Your assumption is correct. So you think it should work? Aight cant wait to get home and slap this stuff together! I will post back with information on how it went. And if any questions arise.

Yes, dub, it should recognize your cpu with the shipped BIOS. But, I recommend updating to the later BIOS once things are up and running stably.

dubc613- 11-02-2007
Yeah, indeed I will update the bios after. Just good to hear you think it will recongnize my cpu.

Put it together, posted first try, installed XP, not a problem yet. And wow does she fly! Great CPU/motherboard combo.

Glad to hear it all went well bud.....I'm sure you will be most pleased with that setup.

These Intels are something else eh... Almost like some alien technology, just like warp drive biggrin.gif

Yeah they are crazy. Going from a opty 175 2.2ghz to the E6750 @ 2.6ghz I was expecting it to be alot faster, then when I ran 3dmark05 my cpu scored 10,000. My opty 175 only scored 4000, I was like WOW ohmy.gif . This DDR2 ram is quite the difference over DDR also. Presently with my CNPS8000 cpu cooler my 6750 runs idle at 22-23, then during load it doesn't go above 30. Which leads me to think I got some headroom for overclocking this bad boy. Might be asking you guys some questions when I do decide to overclock. As for now. I am one happy man.
