i built a pc for a friend and hes having issues. as soon as we built it running everything at what we believe is stock it failed orthos in under 1 minute, it seemed the ram was bad according to mem-*test*-('") so we rma'ed it and just got the new sticks. now with the new sticks its still failing orthos, the first time it failed after 8 minutes (cpu voltage 1.29), i bumped up the voltage to 1.3125 and it lasted 17 minutes in orthos before failing again. hes not using an asus board but i tried. i've not had time to play with it since its not mine so i dont know what some of the stuff in bios does

cpu c2d e6400 SL9T9
board evga 680i 122-CK-NF63
ram 2 gigs patriot 2.2v 4-4-4-12
vid card nvidia 8600
psu OCZ 700W

any ideas

should i try takin the voltage the other way (down)

thanks in advance...should someone reply

i should just give up with computers everything seems to go wrong sad.gif

Most MOBOs default to 1.9V Vdimm
That memory needs 2.2v

i set the mem voltage at 2.2. i expect the issue to be some setting being off but dont know which

I reset CMOS/BIOS and then change only those settings I need to such as RAIDm on or off. I'd also set the Vdimm voltage to 2.2v manually but leave everything else at auto. See if it stabilizes then. Is the RAM passing mem-*test*-('") at 2.2v?
