I'm not sure I'd call that "shaming" the 8800. By the time that comes out, the 8900 may be in the "leak" stage. The race is definitely on, however. This should be almost as interesting as AMD vs. Intel.

200 points ?
This is a new X1800 like card.
Lotsa energy required, lots of heat dissipation and high clocks.
Second generation will be a real contender at 65nm.

Agreed. I wasn't the copywriter on the headline.
By the time that card is ACTUALLY out nvidia will have something to rape it with... we live in a golden age gentlemen... the only winners out of this war is us
and by winners, you mean that we get to constantly empty our wallets for something new

Buying hardware that the damn games havent even caught up to yet

LOL... Guess its like that... much like a double edged sword.
I just like to know that the tech is there just in case a half decent game does actually appear... Besides, its only money
Sounds like things are breaking down into a driver war. Both cards still have locked up potential it just a matter of who can refine those drivers fas-*test*-('"). At one gig I'd say AMD has a slight advantage over the 786 cards. However, RAM isn't everything and as far a the processors go it will certainly be a very interesting race.
I think that AMD and ATI are still assimilating so we can expect some stronger products as time goes and as these DX10 drivers get locked down. If Nvidia wins this battle, which they are likely to do since they have 12 cards locked up in storage waiting for ATI to release their DX10 cards, However, as we move deeper into the 8series and 2 series and then into then 9series GPU and AMDs 3 series I believe AMD will have a good edge as they will be fully assimilated with ATI. Still that is as much as a year off or more. And there are advancements like SLI PPUs SLI2.0 and other factors that will throw a curve into things.
Now if only the "stars" would come out.
i see nothing.....
