I am about to build a new computer and have purchased the Asus M2N32 SLI
Deluxe Wireless Edition motherboard.

My next step is to choose a good computer case with a 650 watt power supply.
I notice that the choice is huge and obviously not easy, therefore I would
appreciate your input and help.

Thank you in advance

Anthony

Lian-Li has many awesome cases to choice from. Very high quality build that will last you a very long time.

Are you looking for a mid or full tower case?

This is a very nice Lian Li full tower case at a great price. All aluminum, light weight and plent of room. A handful of us use the G70 here and love it.

You are probably better served getting a case that you like without a power supply so you can choose one that best suits your needs, as well as something of quality..

That is what I will do.
I tend to buy the following Power Supply:

OCZ/GameXStream/700 watt/ATX/120mmFan/SATA Ready/SLI Ready/EPS/ActivePFC/PowerSupply

What is your opinion ?
Concerning the case : does any case do or do I need a case which is made
for this particular power supply and my motherboard ?

Can you suggest a particular type ? As I am new at this I seem to need a lot of
help and suggestions.

Thanks

Anthony

The OCZ gameXstream700 is an alright little power supply based on the FSP line of PSU's from memory. I think its also a small power supply so case choice doesnt become as limited as say with a Galaxy 1kw which i can tell you is HUGE.

When choosing a case buy the best you can afford, you're going to have to look at this box every day for a while so may as well pick something that is aesthetically pleasing to you. Buy quality and buy what you like.

Some of the boys here run LianLi exclusively (Might buy one myself one day biggrin.gif)

I like my Coolermaster stackers, the STC-T01 is my favourite though its big, its heavy
and I can fit everything in there, doesnt have an easily removable mother board tray which could be helpful to the 1st time builder so be aware.

Silverstone make nice cases, I like the TJ07 and TJ09

I nearly bought a LianLi G70 the other day but talked myself out of it, the PC60 plus looks nice if you want a mid size tower.

Young 64Dragon has a build log here using a Silverstone Tj07 which looks really nice:

I've made the mistake more than once buying inexpensive cases. My new build includes the Enermax Uber Chakra Full Tower. Big, heavy, sturdy, quality. Love the quick and easy mounting system for drives. It has a 25cm reversible direction fan on the side panel. Doesn't blow out very well but moves a good bit of air blowing in. Great sleek look, not over the top. Couldn't be happier with it.

One fan in front, one in rear, one on side so not the best for mass air cooling but I'm not oveclocking tremendously so ok for me.

As far as PSU, conform! Check out Antec's psu's can't go wrong.

Let us know what you decided.

Antec PSU's and Asus boards have not had a good relationship over the years, compatibility wise. Even if they have taken steps to rectifying the problems, I'd stay away from them to eliminate any problems for a first time builder.

What kind of compatibility issues?

vegasr- 12-30-2007
Ya, I think those compatibility issues have been resolved.

I really like this Antec ps:

However, thats getting into the PC P&C price range and I would suggest the Silencer 750, which is at an awesome price right now.

Thats a really good price for the 750 silencer...

Another good PSU which a lot of people like is the Corsair HX620

But its around the same money as the PC P&C... which is probably better

Ya, for only $29 more dollars, I couldn't comprehend blink.gif why someone would get a 620 watt corsair over the Silencer 750.

I just purchased the silencer 750 from Amazon for under $155 including shipping

Nice, we can add one more to the PC P&C cult. biggrin.gif Thats a great price too.

Well I figured if everyone else is doing it, why not?

Now I'm gonna have to junk my Samsung Ram.

paulzig- 12-31-2007
