Waiting for the delivery (should be Tuesday at the la-*test*-('") unless I want to drive to Ohio tonight lol)). Looking at the mobo, and knowing the size of that Zalman 9500, do you think i'm going to have an issue with the cpu cooler interfering with the NB heat sync? If so, what are my options??

Good!!! OK, next question.... I was also able to swing a 250GB WD SATA drive (I love side work ), and still would like to use the old 250 IDE for storage. How should I set the jumpers up? (I obviously want the SATA for my boot drive).

SATA and IDE are two completely different beasts. On a SATA drive there is no Master or Slave as each drive has a dedicated channel. If you want the IDE drive in the PC then you'll have to set it up on the same IDE port as the Optical drive. This will limit you to one Optical Disk Drive (ODD). Id set the HDD to Master and the ODD to Slave.

My advice would be to get a cheap external shell or HDD case and make the IDE an external HDD for storage. You can plug it in through a USB port.

OK, I have 1 DVD Rom, 1 Cd burner , 1IDE HD, and 1 SATA(now). That mobo has 2 ide ports. Can I run the SATA with XP Pro, put the old ide HD as master on 1 ide, then the 2 cdroms (set as master\slave) on the other ide? I also have an external USB dvd burner, but i'm sure that doesn't matter.

ahh what did he order?
i have am2 cpu's, an am2 asus crosshair mobo, an am2 dfi mobo with 2 gigs of ram made just for that mobo.

an intel e6600 does 3.6 on air, super duty cpu heatsinks, pc p&c psu's...

anyway, gunna tinker with the tinker rig now because it's 20,500 or better score in 3dmark06!

dell has crap xp pro 64 drivers, so it's a vista machine period.
no problem, for gaming it's the best I've had, vista is just a pain in the balls.

I ended up getting the e6750, ASUS P5N-E SLI mobo, and a 250 GB WD SATA HD.

dunno bout he cpu, mobo rocks, get two wd raptors and raid0 them.

I'm not into the overclock stuff, just here to get advice on a budget upgrade for my little gamer. I run a BFG 8600GTS OC2 (always Nvidia for me). 2 1gig sticks of OCZ Gold DDR2-667 , and a 550W Coolermater psu (as stated earlier), and a SB Audigy 2 for sound.

Should be a nice little budget rig..The 6750's are nice little chips capn, its no QX6850 but it should run really well.
