Since his new SSD drive is so fast it only takes 4 minutes to install and OS, Jason's going to re-install so he'll have 32-bit VISTA running.  biggrin.gif

The installation is no problem, but I'm not thrilled at the idea of paying twice for an OS I never intend to use, save for Forum Wars.

Doesn't your license allow you to install either the 64-bit or the 32-bit version?

Freakin" M$. They sell this half baked product at inflated prices with incredibly complicated licensing agreements and loAded with drm. nNo one wants the stuff so they lie about how well it is doing. Reality is finally settling in so they are dropping he prices and I would expect the licenses will get loosened up even more than they have. Now they are facing a Billion dollar class action suit. Next they'll have to pull the DRM stuff out as the music industry is giving up on it. Maybe by SP2 the OS will be worthwhile but by then they'll have that new OS out.

No, that notion would be far too logical for Microsoft's marketing department to grasp. The license for the 32bit flavor is sold separately from the license for the 64bit software. Cute, huh?

You know it's bad when the IP attorney resorts to pirated . . . I mean "preview" . . . software. Jason +
Pirate Bay = civil disobedience. Justice via Star Chamber. biggrin.gif

I'll use the 'borrowed' copy while I haggle with MS about getting a break on pricing for a 32bit license, since I already paid a premium for 64bit Vista Ultimate Edition. Neither of which is being regarded as a serious option on mission critical systems or enterprise computing, in general. Woof woof.

Might have to borrow a copy of Vista 32bit myself biggrin.gif for evaluation purposes only.. I will remind everyone here that AI does NOT condone piracy in any way shape or form.. Taking the bread out of Bill Gates' mouth is something I'm sure none of us here have any intention of doing.

When you step up to a 30-inch panel, the four GPUs in the 3870X2 come into play with roughly a 40 percent increase in frame rate.

Given a modest OC of 3.60GHz, this early Crossfire driver shows great promise:

Awesome stuff Jason. I bet your having a blast with it. smile.gif

I was pleasantly surprised that installation went so smoothly. The beta drivers had a pretty mixed reception, so I was getting a little anxious. So far, smooth sailing.

Initial impression of the ATI 8.3 CrossfireX drivers: wow! cool.gif

These scores were obtained without tweaking or much effort; although, I was building on considerable experience gained from the work with the single X2. Still, to hit scores like this on water . . . . This Nvidia card better be packing.

Should be noted that if you want to overclock two of these puppies, you really do need a 1200W PSU, IMHO. It's putting the hurt on my PC P&C 1KW. Running with slight OC, the 1KW is fine, but at the higher OC, "beep, beep, beep, beep!"

Downloading the 8.3 catalyst drivers for XP now... May not do me any good since I have only the 1 card, but what the hey..

Is that all?? biggrin.gif... Seriously, even on water, that 1.7+vcore is WAY too high for a 45nm.. Go easy till FW big guy.. Unless these are FW scores of course, then by all means..

Really nice tho, 25K+ Sir, you have impressed me, but theres more left, methinks you are sandbagging a bit eh... So, 3dmark01 challenge next week then?? LOL
