Jason... You need to run Aquamark by the way, its about the only benchmark missing out of your set...

I was leaving Aquamark for last, since it seems the most arbitrary in how it spits out scores (a close second to 3DM01).

If someone would update the Riva config file, I could add 50-100 points to each of those scores.

A coder is the only expert we're missing from our ranks. The Professor is the math whiz; Actuary Arlie forecasts when our processors will flame out; Tim, the OC guru; Chuck the marketplace analyst; Paul, hardware man and entertainment coordinator; Counselor McKenzie to assist with much maligned warranties; Marion, materials and munitions expert; and Merc, ace fighter pilot, to coordinate sorties against the opposing team when all else fails. laugh.gif biggrin.gif

I am also the hitman when our warranty procedures fail by using normal avenues...biggrin.gif

[Note: Identical scores received with VRAM @ 1120 and 1125. Go figure.]

What kind do you need? I've written a few lines of code in several different languages. Jack of all trades, master of none, lol.

Hi Rick,

Those of us transitioning to the new ATI Radeon HD3870 X2 need an application like RivaTuner ported (if that's the correct term of art?) for the ATI drivers. Tim ("Wanngofast") published a guide on how to use RivaTuner to improve benchmark scores with the 8800GTX, but the app doesn't work with the ATI drivers.

Knowing nothing about coding, save for a high school course in Pascal (in other words, nothing lol), I'm not sure what all would be involved.

Here's the link to RivaTuner's homepage: http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?page=rivatuner&menu=8

Squeezed out a few more points as a fine tune; increased VRAM by 20:

3870 X2 Overclocked @ 900/1100MHz. 4.650GHz. 465MHz FSB. 10x. 1.69 vcore (1.718 BIOS). 1.74 PLL, 1.65 NB, 1.150 SB, 1.62 Term. High CPU Diode Temp @ idle 45C.

900/1120 (GPU/VRAM)

3DMark06: 23069

Daily clock speed, voltages and temps after a successful run of 3DM06:

All that remains is to tighten timings.

Looking good Jason. With your vdimm at 2.0, can you get your mem timings down to 7-7-7-21 2T, or 8-7-7-21 1T?

Chuck, that's the last item on the 'to do list.' smile.gif Yes, I think so. Not sure if I can complete benchmarks with timings that tight, but should be ok for everyday use.

I left the timings at auto for purposes of running 3dM06. That's what you're seeing.

vegasr- 02-19-2008
Sounds good. Unless you've already gave it a shot and it didn't work, I bet you'll be able to bench atleast on the 8-7-7-21, if not both. I'm confident you won't have any problems with it bud.

This is Aquamark run with an e8400 @ 4500mhz and a 3870x2 at stock clocks 825/900..

264,704 pts...biggrin.gif

Your timings are too loose dude...Aquamark has always been good to me though smile.gif

I have a customer build to finish this week, but next week I'm gonna run some benchmarks with the:

To see what difference it makes..

jmkays- 02-20-2008
Yes, I realize that Paul. I'm focusing on timings this weekend.

I found a link to beta X2 Crossfire drivers -- think they're limited to Vista, though: http://www.hisdigital.com/html/driver.php

More good news. I wrote the coder for RivaTuner ("Unwinder"). He answered with this link. Looks like RivaTuner beta for X2 will be out any day now:

Just got word today that Petra's tech received a new shipment of X2 waterblocks, so have the second one in route. Should have that by Monday and will post photos then of second HD3870 X2 installed.

Also have a few more surprises in store. wink.gif

paulzig- 02-22-2008
Are you going to go LN2 or dry Ice....??? Is that the surprise??
