If the intent for anyone is to setup a new loop with the NB Fusion block, I strongly recommened using the swiftech 350/355 pump and just go 3/8" tubing and barbs. It is more than enough and can definetly handle a video card as well.

Colder NS6 Coupler PSI Change, given 5 GPM @ 50 PSI

Where Q = 5 GPM, PSI drop is 5.159.

Calculation of PSI Change Where NS6 Coupler is Used
Where "Q" is flow rate in GPM; "S" is specific gravity of liquid; "P" is change in PSI; and Cv is “average constant of various rates,” the formula is: Q = Cv (√P ÷ S)

Here, "Q" = 5.0 GPM; Cv = 2.20; “S” was left as “1” (rating for water). Change in "P" is left open as variable to solve for.

NS6’s Cv value is 2.20cv. Cv value, or “average constant of various rates,” is arrived at by Colder Products engineers by averaging out all possible combinations of inserts and bodies in a given series.

David, thanks. It's the equation used by Colder's engineers.

I figure the drop is most likely under 5.2 psi, given that the pressure at that point in the loop has already dropped a bit from the 12" Tygon run.

Cole-Parmer bollixed shipping of the Colder coupler order. Twice. (1) They were to ship Friday FedEx Overnight with Saturday delivery. Failed to send. (2) They were to ship Monday, at their expense, FedEx Overnight with overnight delivery. Failed. to send. (3) They are to ship Tuesday, FedEx overnight with an entourage of nubile dancing girls skilled in arts of coupling and fluid dynamics . . . waiting for confirmation.

On a more positive note, the EK 3870 X2 waterblock arrived today.

I'm sending some photos to EK's US distributor, Petra's Tech, because they don't have theirs yet! Haha.

This is a nice little coup for our Forum because, from what Eddy and the owners of Petra's tell me, this may well be the first 3870 X2 EK waterblock to hit US soil.

More Asus crap parts:

No guess work in the origin of the leak this time.

I realize the pumps are powerful, but they aren't this powerful! When I removed the 8800GTX today, the plastic barb literally disintegrated in my hand -- it was under no pressure or force when removed:

Installation of EK 3870 X2 Waterblock

I believe the photos speak for themselves. A combination of thermal tape, Arctic Ceramique and AS5 are used on the VRAM, GPU and MOSFETS. There is VRAM on the back of the card, as well, that is cooled by two the EK L-shaped, black heatsinks. Installation and instructions were straightforward.

Those EK blocks are real beauts, Jason. Congratulations on being the first to have them in the US!!

After far too many phone calls back and forth, Cole-Parmer confirmed overnight shipment of the couplers this evening (and the tracking number indicates delivery tomorrow by 4:00 pm). The new RAM arrived today too. New reservoirs and Norprene arrived yesterday.

I'm replacing both reservoirs -- both the Alphacool and the small res. The old Alphacool domed res was mucked up by the PC Ice UV dye debacle. I'm replacing the second res with a small EK res that has barbs running parallel to the case floor, rather than vertical in orientation like the present res. This will give me a little more room (Tygon was bumping against he small radiator/exhaust fan beneath the res).

Still quite a bit of work to do, but I expect to have her running by tomorrow night. Thursday at the la-*test*-('").

Jason: This clearly looks like material fatigue/failure.

Couple of questions: Is this plastic or teflon (looks like some random plastic compound, probably of same questionable quality as the shipped cheap plastic tubing you showed me.

Ask ASUS if they come from a particular supplier or from whomever is the cheapest from a variety of sources. Quality has been accelerating to crap in many "common plastics", due to high demand and little to no QA/QC in certain Far East manufacturing concerns.

Where was this coupler with respect to the process flow .. before or after the water block? (Fluid hot or ambient)

Which end failed (looks like that attached to the 0.375" end, but cannot tell)

Is this the same coupler that was in-line prior to changing fluid to the newfangled formulation ?

Clearly this particular component and the cheap tubing, made from such random, questionable quality, should NOT be used in a fluid cooled, under pressure assemblage. What in the hell was ASUS thinking? Save $$ on cheap peripherals, to toast an expensive mobo?
