after blowing up my 3800x2, then having to downgrade to a plain 3800+, I found a seller on ebay selling 939's. So I picked up a opteron 175. Can anyone tell me if this was a wise choice. I really wanted to get my dual core back. So I accomplished that. I just hope I made a wise decision.

That should be a fine for a replacement to the 3800X2.

All of the Opty's I played with were capable of 2.6GHz or better at stock volts.
A real good one can do up to 3.0GHz with a little extra juice added to it.
