Welcome to the wonderful world of CM9. Try running the new version in that partition and see if that gives you a reasonable score. I'm really miffed at that older versions. I would expect something close to 20k with two 150 raptors. Defrag the partition before you start.

JaxMacFL- 07-28-2006
Now, I don't run two 150's, I run two 74's. I'm thinkinig the score is about right. Maybe a tad low.

Just heard my RMA'd GPU will be shipping 'shortly'. Not quite sure what that means, but hopefully it will be here in time for a final (improved) score.

GPU Update.

There is a distinct possibility that my RMA'd GPU's will be here sometime tomorrow. Colour me excited about the possibility of consistently getting through all of the 3DMark -*test*-('")s without issues.

Good deal bud......I'm sure they have it worked out by now wink.gif
Costing them to much $ in shipping to keep sending bunk cards biggrin.gif

Our fingers are crossed for you mate. Just a suggestion, run the benches at stock on the 7900 when you get it and save the scores on a word doc. Then try O/Cing if you want. 7900's scare me. I have never seen so many RMA's.

Arlie- 07-31-2006
Merc's advice holds for any overclocking you do. Always save the best you have just in case.

Now, with just 11 days to go, can we

GET IT ON!!!!!!!

I have looked through many of the threads here and there is a topic I haven't seen covered. I may just be the last one to the party, but here goes. I have been experimenting with the nVidia profiles. I have found that running the default (Global) profile is the worst case scenario and consistently gives me the lowest scores on the 3D stuff.

So far, on my system at least, I have found that an optimized 3D06 profile gives me best scores on all of the 3DMark benches. For instance, using one GPU, I can get a score of 22707 on 3DMark03 if I use an optimized 3DMark06 profile. If I use an optimized 3DMark 03 profile, I can only get 22564.

The difference is not staggering, but I figure every point counts. Whatever you do, DO NOT use the Global profile, it sucks.

I would be most interested if anyone has found an even better profile for the benches.

Arlie- 08-01-2006
To be honest, I haven't tried mixing profiles with benches, so I find your information very intriguing. I'll have to try it this weekend when I have some time to bench again. Thanks for posting that info!!!

I noticed that when a 3dmark profile is selected, the 'Anisotropic mip filter optimization' setting is set to 'Off'. If you right click on 'Anisotropic mip filter optimization', it explains that the faster performance is with it set to 'On'. Don't know why nVidia set up the profile that way, but I always change it to 'On' prior to benchmarking.

nemick42- 08-03-2006
I will try that tonight. The problem I have is that I don't really know what most of the things in the profiles mean. I have been turning off everything that I can, so there may be more to this than meets the eye. I am currently only a few points shy of 10000 on 3DM06 and its driving me crazy.

Also, this past June, AMD added this dual core optimizer, (not to be confused with the dual core cpu processor driver):

AMD Dual-Core Optimizer - The AMD Dual-Core Optimizer can help improve some PC gaming video performance by compensating for those applications that bypass the Windows API for timing by directly using the RDTSC (Read Time Stamp Counter) instruction. Applications that rely on RDTSC do not benefit from the logic in the operating system to properly account for the affect of power management mechanisms on the rate at which a processor core's Time Stamp Counter (TSC) is incremented. The AMD Dual-Core Optimizer helps to correct the resulting video performance effects or other incorrect timing effects that these applications may experience on dual-core processor systems, by periodically adjusting the core time-stamp-counters, so that they are synchronized.

It can be downloaded here, first one listed:

Also, I just ran across a new bios update (1303) for the a8n32-sli deluxe mb I'm fixin' to flash.

First class information which is much appreciated.

These are my la-*test*-('") and probably final scores. I will keep on trying to find a little more, but I am about used up. I don't know where to post my scores for the real deadline, so if I go missing (I travel alot with my job) use these.
