Please cast your vote for asustech/blu_mod.gif of the year. You may chose from among any member of the existing mod/admin staff or from among any of those who moderated during 2006 but who are no longer in that position.

You must name your nomination and support it with a logical reason for your choice.

We look forward to some good stories here.

Well looking around for logical choices i find it very hard to go past myself, the sole reason being... My cool attitude and the rapport i have with my fellow man.. biggrin.gif

But jokes aside... I'll have to nominate Merc for his tireless efforts, his quick responses, and well mannered ways...

asustech- 01-16-2007
thats a tough one, ALL are excellent.

Neutral here im afraid. (its hard for a captain to make an individual comment on just one ship mate).... unsure.gif

I have to agree with Paul (even tho I thought his rapport was with "fellow women"...lol)

I would nominate Merc just for his run-in at the other forum over PCP&C, and the aftermath where PCP&C discovered their supplier's shenanigans...that was priceless!

Truth be told, it is really hard to single out one asustech/blu_mod.gif. Arlie, Wanna, and the rest of you mods do an amazing job here. More than one "unsatisfied customer" has come in here complaining about their problems, and usually end up wanting to know how to donate to the cause!

If Asus had even half a brain they would box up some stuffed Strikers and hand-deliver them to your doorstep...with a case of beer. The fact that you guys do what you do "for the fun of it" is remarkable.

Arlie- 01-16-2007
In answer to your question, gtnot, the reason we come in here "for the fun of it" is because it is fun. The mod team in here gets along incredibly well and we enjoy each other's company. So, dropping in nightly is a chance to catch up with friends in addition to being a chance to help somebody out.

That said, among a team of great guys, my vote for 2006 would be Merc. If I look back at 2006 and recall the major board events other than the move here, Merc seems to be the instigator in most of them. Among them:

- Forum Wars 2006 (OK, we all agree we'll never do it again, well, maybe, but it sure was fun and we all learned a lot)
- The cult of PC P&C and its loyal following
- Let's water cool!
- Socket 939 Alliance
- Hey, check out this $150 Opty 165!
- The Overclockers guide and forum

However, having voted for 2006, I recommend a "retired" handicap for Merc in 2007.

I agree Arlie and seriously don't want to contend for any "award" I enjoy being here and we have a great board. My story:

I came here from an invite just after I had my first child (well my wife had him but I was involved somewhere in the process). I was the go-to guy at HWA for that horrible A8N SLI Deluxe thread. John emailed me a couple of times and asked me over. Arlie and Roderick were already here and welcomed me aboard. They made me a mod shortly thereafter because they had no choice. biggrin.gif

After -1 (-1 = dash-one in fighter guy language, wingman) was born I had a steep learning curve. My friends and family were very supportive but Mom and -1 were always in bed at about 8 and a few months later I was in charge of crib training. That is the 2000 to 0200 watch (8pm to 2AM for you landlubbers). Arlie and Roderick made sure that I was kept company while Mom got some sleep and the baby tried to sleep, or maybe he tried to stay awake, who knows, but I got a lot of sage advice and support during my late night vigils and I will never forget it. Great friends I have never had a beer with. I have learned more than I could ever imagine from here and have had a lot of fun. Made some friends along the way too.

BTW, I just noticed I broke the 2K mark for posts, which is embarrassing, so I really don't need anymore attention. Thank God I have a government job. biggrin.gif

I nominate myself, because Merc sux!

Woot.

No for real, the man has given me tons of advice on my current and past rig, and he taught me all I know about overclocking, which still isn't enough, IS IT! ohmy.gif

Plus I love how Merc has to sneak computer parts into his house so that he doesn't draw aggro from the wife. It's great hearing those stories.

My vote was even for all until joe pointed this out. I think most can relate to that.

That post in explanation. Wanna was waiting for the Fedex guy for his 8800GTS and I posted the below in his thread:

I met the UPS guy in a bar to get my Opte 165. Friday afternoon and the regular guy swapped some packages with another UPS driver. The second driver could not get on base so no Opte till Monday. No way. Called UPS, they called the driver, he called me and said he was having lunch at a local bar I used to frequent. So I drove there, got my package and opened it at the bar to check the stepping. Woot! that's a good one! Ordered a beer and explained stepping to the bartender.

Strife- 01-17-2007
But but but tell em how you got caught!

Merc is cheating on his wife with an Opte

Merc- 01-17-2007
I took the opte out of the box and stuck it in my pocket. Played with the baby, ate dinner, played with the baby some more, all with the Opte in my pocket. biggrin.gif When she was putting the baby to bed I took the 4400X2 out and stuck the Opte in there. She came in the room just as I was screwing the waterblock back on (the one time the baby went right to sleep rolleyes.gif ) and said "What are you doing with that computer?" I said "I am cleaning some things up because it is running slow." Got a weird look but the baby started crying so I buttoned her up, flipped the switch, ran the FSB up to 270 and started running Orthos before she came back. biggrin.gif Strolled downstairs, hoping that Orthos keeps running, but watched TV for a couple of hours with her. She asked if maybe I should clean her PC up. biggrin.gif

She is happy though because over Chistmas I put the 4400X2 in my old Deluxe board (with heatpipe mod) and overclocked it to 2615MHz to replace her P4 setup. Plugged an overclocked silent 7300GT in there as well and it is a great rig. She really likes it.

Tough call, all of you put up with my crap and never give me a hard time.

Gunna be hard to pick just one. sad.gif

Arlie- 01-17-2007
It looks like Merc has the early lead! You had better hope, Merc, that the wife never finds this site laugh.gif
