2 3870 vs 1 3870 x2

ok sitting here with my order in front of me ... everything is here to finish this new build! everything BUT a video card!

going with the ASUS Rampage Formula

i have a E8400 and OCZ Flex XLC 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 1150 (PC2 9200)

so what do you think .... running 2 3870 in cross fire or 1 3870x2 ?
would the 3870x2 out run the 2 3870 in c/f?
if so... will save over $150 running 2 3870 ... but is the extra money worth running the 3870x2 "i would not be getting a second 3870x2" this will be a temp setup till the new R700 cards are out

Based on what I've seen on the AMD/ATI forums, I'm going to guess that, yes, one 3870 X2 will out perform two 3870's.

Well, if this is just going to be a temp vid card, I'd just get one 3870. That should tide you over until the end of next month when the new cards come out.

i was under the impression that the 3870X2 was based on a pair of 3850's but like vegasr said if only temp go 1 3870.
