i know there is another post identical to this but figured it best to seperate our input/responses

I have been having a problem with an a8n-sli setup ever since i gave it to my wife after i got a p5n32-e

heres the issues
first break....everything i tried posted 1-2 and no video... after all the obvious.. and being tired of the nagging.. i started over completely pulled all components out.. rethermaled the cpu...put everything back together ...the system wouldnt post until i took out the second ram stick...this made no sense becuase i verified both ram worked fine in my "working" cpu.. so after posted with one stick.. i turned it off and reinstalled the other...and it worked....sure whatever...i installed xp and forgot about it....1 month later

1long and 2 short again....wtf?

so i go back to ram swapping.. this time one stick wont work in either blue slot.. so i try a black slot.. it posts....ok.. great.. shut it down.. turn it on again...1-2 again....i swapped ram for about 20 mins couldnt get it to repost....just for grins tried the other 7800gt i have...same thing 1-2. Now i have another a8n-sli...oddly i have 2 mobos cus i ordered the nobox version from newegg and it came without the sli connect so i had to reorder the retail one...

i can take it apart and replace the mobo with the other one but the first time it broke a month ago.. i tried both mbs, one on the table outside the case and the other inside the case.. same components in each.. same problems.. and it was still not posting it was just that one odd time it worked with one ram stick.. then the other.. then it worked for a month.. then a flash of working with ram in a black slot...then not working any more

i know this is very easter eggy.. but given the fualt code anonymity its hard to apply logical trouble shooting. I troubleshoot and repair microprocesser based reactor safety gear for us navy subs. i wish i could give you more.. i just cant

note i would love to do a bios update.. but cant get it to post 8(

1 long two short is usually video. Perhaps the psu is underpowered. That would explain why it would work with one stick and not two, as removing one stick would lighten the power draw. And, just checking - no offense - you do have the pcie connector plugged into the 7800 video card properly and you've made sure the card is fully seated, right?

i got some good spare psu's.. ill throw one in and see what happs.. as far as pci slot.. yeah.. i had the mobo for a long time...never had these issues before..its possible the psu sucks
